Chanting is an ancient form of yoga called Bhakti, or devotional yoga. Usually sung in Sanskrit, chanting is similar to singing, but the emphasis is on the words & intentions being chanted, rather than the vocal abilities. This form of yoga allows us to express ourselves with music & come together as a community to share the positive vibrations of our voices. In this class, we will explore some of the most well-known chants. We will learn the meaning of each chant, the pronunciation & the melody most commonly used. Most importantly, we will practice chanting together. No musical or vocal experience is necessary…just an open mind & a willingness to let go of your inhibitions, clap or shake a tambourine and join in the fun!
